If your good intentions to get up and train first thing in the morning are being spoiled by the bitterly cold conditions, then read on for these 5 tips to get you out of bed:
- Leave your clothes on the floor beside your bed, so when you get up you can slip straight into your workout gear.
- Wear layers. Wear as many layers as you need as you can always strip these off as the session progresses and you warm up. Also, the car heater is pretty much useless in the morning if you have only a short drive to the gym, so rug up!
- Have a backup alarm ready. Don’t rely on the Snooze button, you will either sleep through it or turn the alarm off altogether if you miss it. Time is critical and the longer you stay in bed the harder it will be to get out!
- Drink heaps of water before going to bed. When your alarm goes off you will have no choice but to get out of bed to go to the toilet, so get dressed and ready to train while you are at it.
- If all else fails, turn your alarm right up and have an agreement with your spouse that he/she will kick you out of bed when the alarm goes off. I am sure that can be arranged!
